My name is Mark Blimling and I live in Stockholm, Sweden.
I'm half swedish but don't feel it, actually I'm from America.
I lived in Destin, Florida and San Diego, California. It was
in the later that I started training Taiji. I came here in
1992 and started teaching Chen Taiji. My taiji and qigong
résumé has lots of different teachers, and most
of them have studied under Master Feng (see about Master Feng)
and I have trained with his forms of Chen Taiji, the 24,48,73).
Résumé
I started learning Taiji in southern California.
I learned the Cheng Man Ching yang short form from Chris Luth.
I remember many glad nights at Lajolla cove learning to move
slow and let go. I used to help Chris before i received orders
to Japan. In Japan i started learning Chen form from a japanese
chiropractor. It was the first long form ( Chen has two long
forms) which consisted of many kicks and strikes.
When I came back to San Diego, I couldn't find anybody that
did the long form. However, in the Taoist Center they had
a teacher from San Francisco, George Xu. George taught a simplified
Chen style from Shanghai. He also taught several other internal
martial arts. Shortly after George invited a master from Beijing,
Zhang Xia Xin to teach Chen style. Master Zhang impressed
me so much that I studied with him as much as possible. He
taught the Feng Zhi Qiang 48 form, it was a lighter, shortend
long form. I studied that for several years before I met Master
Feng in Switzerland and learned his short form and another
part of Hun Yuan Qigong.
During this time I had the chance to interview Master Feng
on Chan Ssu Gong, one of the most important parts of Chen
Taiji. Chan Ssu Gong is one of the most important keys to
Taiji. I don't understand why it was stopped in the other
types of forms(yang, wu etc.). It teachs the body to move
like taiji, it opens the joints and trains the body for martial
arts training.
